Hi! My name is Lauran Knight.
I’ve been cooking professionally for over 30 years. My childhood was spent in the northeast. My first foody job was working for my brother at his deli in Burlington, VT.
At 21, I traveled to Colorado and decided to stay:) In Boulder, I started at Bohemian Cafe, then went to The Gold Hill Inn. At this point I decided to go for a change in scenery and I took off to St. John for a season.
When I returned to Colorado, I worked at Alfalfa’s, and then it was up to the Tungsten Grill in Nederland, and then back down to the Full Moon Grill in Boulder.
From there I decided to fulfill my curiosity of catering and hooked up with the former Pink Flamingo restaurant, which became Blue Note Catering. I spent my time and chef'ing for the musicians/crew at Red Rocks, Pepsi Center, Fillmore, and many other music venues around the state for about 8 years. Eventually this created two new businesses, 'OOHLALA Catering' and 'Kim and Lauran’s Catering'.
After having my son, I dabbled around for a while, then The Caribou Room project came around and I’ve been there since they opened for the past 6 years.
Kaleidoscope Kitchen has been a twinkle in my eye for a very long time and I am very much looking forward to feeding the Nederland area!
